oy! behind in posting, and a few missing days but otherwise I'm here!

February 5th & 6th no sketch I've got lots of explanations on www.suemolloy.com But February 7th I sat in the sunroom watching the gardening folk chop down the trees and started this one before the finished..didn't realise that until I came back and the limbs were gone :)

February 8th..wasn't happy with this and I may have posted it as some kind of weird arty punishment for not focusing on faces more...hmmm therapy!?

February 9th, didn't happen, February 10th I sketched from some of the photos I had of the kids. I need to find an interesting posture of Mika's. Something where he's less conscious of being photographed.

February 11th, another sketch of my boy from the photo collection I have. Too posed still....

February 12th, again didn't happen - sick babies and teething threw off the last little while, February 13th a sketch of my little one from a photo, it wasn't posed and seemed to work better than the more posed ones

February 14th & 15th, sick babies! But February 16th worked out, less posed and more lighthearted and fun.

February 17th, 18th & 19th, all around Taidg's 1st birthday...February 20th worked out though, I managed to get back to the sketching :)

Feburary 21st, no sketch but February 22nd I had fun with TiVo...a new fun sketching tool

February is off and running

February 1st I'm going to focus on technique and figure drawing as much as possible

February 2nd LOST LOST LOST!!!! so yes, no sketch

February 3rd charcoal and detail aren't the best combination. I think maybe pencil would have been a better choice :)

February 4th back to watercolours, a little experimenting with charcoal water and colour it's okay but I'd like to work on the volume it's a bit flat - I should work on the highlights and shadows...next one

End of January

January 29th, back to hands again.

January 30th the flying teddy bear, it does look a little like a noose though ugh...he's flying on a mobile :)

January 31st charcoal and pencil. I started January with a toy and ended with a Toy. And I think I only missed a couple of days...not a bad start :)

Trip away to Ontario

Visiting family and in-laws so the challenge was to keep up the sketch of the day...
I didn't get to all of them but it wasn't too bad.

Wednesday January 20th, Just arrived, Ellie on the chair

Thursday January 21st, keeping it up! but taking it a bit too easy with the beer bottle - who'd have thunk it's so hard to render a basic shape, of course it's all in the subtle shading and show's true skill yada yada, oh well :)

Friday January 22nd. Doing well at this! At the in-laws and getting time to sketch while I watch the boys after they go down at night. Back to the hand as a good default subject

Saturday, January 23rd. Amazed I'm keeping this up. Love the wagon as a subject, it's classic and pretty fabulous in so many ways

Sunday....not so good

Monday, January 25th, my mom's birthday and a sketch with wine. Foreshortening caught me on this one

Tuesday...hmmm travel interrupted resulted in SOD interrupted

Wednesday January 27th, I think the relief may be felt in this sketch..or maybe it's just starting to sink in

Thursday...packing and planning got in the way so Friday is a time to get back on track although I am quite impressed with myself for pulling off so many while away. Posting regularly isn't quite as straightforward though.

Slipped back to the pencil but F this time....And I got back to using more techniques with the pencil than I had been using

This is from a photograph. Lots of people complain about the lack of "life" in sketches from photos but you have to use them sometimes

Thursday's Sketch

A second attempt, the first was a disaster and this was starting pretty rotten then I almost rescued it. This has some spots to work on but I'd have to go past the 15-30mins so this will do.

So Teething messed up regular posts but not sketches...

This is yesterday's sketch - pretty happy with it. It helped that I finally switched from the H pencil. It's a nice challenge to use the H but its pretty limiting and needs way more erasing and rubbing than I get around to in the 15-30 mins I allocate to sketching.

Tuesday's sketch was less satisfying - it looks a little like a cartoon foot. Or maybe my foot looks like a cartoon foot.

Monday's sketch was the beginning of my switch to body parts I usually avoid during life drawing sessions. I was pretty happy with this

Sunday's sketch was of the elephant on the mantelpiece while watching desperate housewives :)

Saturday....yeah this was a "cup-out" I was exhausted and we had guests. Oh well have to post the good and the bad!

Friday January 8th

k so Thurs didn't happen completely because of a 10mnth old's meltdown. I had started a sketch of my hand and tried to finish it today but it looks too crappy so I'll put up 2 some other time.

for the 8th though I have another I'm not happy with..yay! But the good the bad and the ugly, 'cept for thursday's make it
